United States Coins Cartoon Illustrations
Cartoon coin illustrations
These cartoon illustrations of United States coins was a personal project. Years before I created the vector art, I had sketched them out on a notebook during class back in college. The sketches had been sitting in the back of my mind for years, and I finally dusted them off to finalize them and work up the vector art.
I guess in a sense this was also a caricature project, since I needed to capture a humorous likeness of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. I went more for a play on the look of the coins than the actual Presidents themselves though.
Creating the highlights for the coins was probably the toughest part, keep things simple and cartoony, but also making them convincing enough that the artwork resembled coins.
And yes, I have thought of drawing more money — in particular I have worked up some initial sketches for a Washington one-dollar bill. Need to get back to work on that one soon.
Below is a close-up shot of the quarter and penny artwork so you can see some of the detail that went into the illustrations.
These cartoon coin illustrations are available for licensed use with instant purchase and download here: cartoon penny, cartoon quarter, cartoon nickel, and cartoon dime.
