This cartoon octopus character was created for a client developing a new baby product to help with diaper rash.
Believe it or not, I had not drawn a cartoon octopus until this project, so I was looking forward to it. I will say that I underestimated the amount of work all those tentacles and suckers were.
This cartoon bear as lumberjack character design was created as part of a logo design for hand-crafted wood furniture maker Wissota Woods.
The client approached me on this project wanting a lumberjack character, but also wanting something a bit different. Bears are a fixture in his state of Wisconsin near Lake Wissota, so we ran with that.
I recently created this cool cigar-smoking thug character & logo for the cigar aficionado store and message board website Gar Trader. The above artwork and design is actually an alternate version I created for the client, the final was required to be much, much smaller to fit into his website, but he also wanted to be able to offer t-shirts and other merchandise so I created this version (which is my personal fave).
I created this cartoon aviator bird mascot character and the website banner seen above for a recent client. The name of the company & website was “Daily Flock” so we knew the mascot was going to be bird-related. The website offers local New York City bargains, so the idea was that the website scoured the city for shopping deals for you. I suggested an aviator bird, and the client loved the idea.
I recently created this cartoon character mascot for a client who is a roofer. He was looking for a fun logo for his roofing business, and I assume he’s also a dog lover as he asked for the character to be a dog carpenter.
This cartoon character design of a military/soldier dog was created for a dog waste cleanup company, Private Piles. A full logo was also created in addition to the cartoon dog character.
Squirrel cartoon character character design and logo for novelty gift company Acorn Souvenirs.
The company sells gag gifts based on the government “ACORN” program. the concept behind the character and logo was to have the squirrel cartoon character trying to chew on the ACORN logo as if it were an actual acorn.
This was an interesting project. I was contracted to created a cartoon fish mascot character for a niche fishing tool—basically it’s an air bladder deflate gizmo for fishermen so they can sport fish deeper-sea fish and release the expanded air in the fish’s buoyancy air bladder when they arrive at the surface. this allows the fishermen to release the fish back into the water without permanently harming them.
After an initial phone discussion with the client, I was mailed the existing packaging (as I was to also re-design the packaging) as well as some rough sketches drawn by the client to give me an idea of the fish they wanted to see. Typically when clients do send rough drawings, it’s with the “it’s not the greatest” disclaimer, but I actually encourage clients to suck up the ego and send these over. The more information I have from a client about what they have envisioned for the project, the better.
This project was a blast to work on—very cool client and a fun theme How can you beat drawing a surfer dude holding a gyro/souvlaki while surfing a giant wave in front of a Greek temple?
This project came about after the client had commissioned a previous artist to illustrate the logo for “Surfin’ Souvlaki”, which was the client’s new restaurant. The results were less than satisfactory, and after finding me he knew I was the right illustrator for the job.
The final artwork was intended for use not only as the restaurant logo, but also for use on the sign on the front of the store. As the client had already purchased a large sheet of diamond-shaped steel, I needed to work up a the illustration to fit within this shape.
