Creating cartoon animals that aren’t immediately recognizable to people (as a dog or cat would be) can sometimes be tricky. You don’t have that mental model to play off of. Groundhogs aren’t emblazoned in your mind like a giraffe is. Hopefully with the long, thrown shadow, the name “Shadow”, the idea gets across.
